The Bison Butte Mountain Bike Course will host the Mountain Biking competitions at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. The newly created course, located at FortWhyte Alive, will be the first mountain bike venue to meet national standards in central Canada. The course is made up of a series of intricate connecting loops that offer three levels of difficulty to challenge high performance athletes.
Mountain bike is set to be one of the most exciting spectator sports during the Games. Following the event, the Manitoba Cycling Association will have an increased capacity to host elite competitions and develop all levels of mountain bike athletes in Manitoba. The course is not yet open to the public.
This legacy project is funded in part by the Government of Canada, the Government of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg.
